Original un-refurbished watch. Owned by my wifes aunt since new.
Wow. What a beauty! Congratulations on having a wonderful family heirloom. I have to defer to the experts on the early models to ID your watch.
Dear Steve Ford, a beautiful watch that is known to me, but unfortunately we don't have an ad to give this beauty a name, hence "UNKNOWN".
I would say the year is 1922 given that the case signature has the shield symbol and not the globe symbol.
Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing this beautiful family heirloom with us! Wow she is really something, all that detail and design!
Lady Maxim is a possibility but without an ad it may be Unknown.
One watch, One FAMILY, ONE HUNDRED YEARS! I am in awe of this watch and all the stories it could tell. I hope your wife will have it serviced and wear it on special occasions!
Very beautiful! Unfortunately and unknown model.
What a beautiful watch. The hand engraved dial and case are fantastic. Solid gold case as well. What an amazing family heirloom.
I agree with Alex with a date of 1922/23 due to the later shield logo. These are hard to pin down to an exact year, but I'd be happy to go with 1922. We have some evidence that these early models were part of the general Lady Maxim line, but more advert evidence is really needed to confirm.
The case being solid gold also makes it difficult to place in order of other standard serial numbers, which sometimes helps narrow down a year.
This heirloom has what I would call the "wow factor". Amazing watch with an amazing family backstory. I agree with Alex & Stephen.
1922 seems appropriate, but a name escapes me.
After a clean and adjust, it's running well and keeping time. Ready for another 100 years!
Steve

That's the sheer beauty of these watches....they were built to last.
I've done a good number of these early ladies watches and it is an amazing feeling when you finally reassemble and the balance wheel jumps into life.
a 'LADY MAXIM'
