Anybody know the story about Bulova and Westfield?

I don't come across them very often, but I was struck the other day when looking at a customer's watch, which I at first took to be a Bulova, and discovered it was a Westfield. It had a Bulova movt inside it, although I don't remember the calibre offhand, it was the same number and letter designation we all have seen. The case even used the Bulova date code, L4.

After some homework in the archives, I think this one is an American Eagle, but not sure if it's a variant, there's another in the database which matches it. The square datecode is under the balannce. Fully serviced, the dial is a but grubby, and there is some brassing on a few high spots on the case. 21 jewels, and Breguet Overcoil. Due to excessive running in the past with no service, we have some sideshake issues which make for a variation of over 50 seconds in three positions. It keeps good time on the wrist, and after 24 hours showed only an 18 second gain. As always, what it says on the timing machine and what it does in practice are two different things.

About as long as the day... sporting a very rectangular case.  A nice President with a etched case. The movement is showing a double date stamp with a 1938 & 1939 stamp.

Nice example with a little wear on the lugs but the super close and light photos accent it quite a bit more than it in real life.

Love the butler silver type dial.  Double hinged case and what appears to be original ochre colored radium numbers and hands unless they were done more recently.

Now the name is a toss-up it seems between two names for what appears to be the same model during the same year.

After a bit of chat with the gents I'll agree it does look abit more like the Senator... but really.. could be the other as well.

I know this may be a long shot but i am looking for a specific case back 14K yellow gold filled from a bulova accutron.  the serial number i need is "J36315"  date code unknown.

I discovered the original paperwork (showing original serial number) with a watch i inherited but overtime that case back has been swapped out.  if anyone has any leads please let me know!
