I went to the dollar store and found a soft rubber ball...works good unless the back is real tight...

My wife has flat 5 inch diameter thin grippy rubber pads, designed for getting a grip on stuff like tight pickle jar lids etc. I set the pad on a pocket watch & twisting friction between the heels of both hands will open it.

Probably K-Mart/Wal-Mart acquisitions.

I have cut out a piece of an old bicycle tire innertube, cleaned it real good, and used it.  Kinda like the X-mart version mentioned above w/o having to make the trip to X-mart.

Won't work on most Bulova's using the threaded ring to lock down the caseback. The back itself is keyed, won't turn at all. You need the right wrench for those.

Won't work for snap-backs either! lol

 I have two of these, one is my travelling one for flea markets. It is a quick way to open casebacks without a wrench, but as noted, won't work if they are properly tight. It works well with screw back pocket watches especially. I know it looks like a gimmicky thing, but it does work most of the time, especially if I have to be taking a back off and on repeatedley during a show, or haven't finished a repair, and just want the back on quick and finger tight.
