Watch Description

I inherited this watch from my grandfather. I would love to gather some more info about the piece. I do not want to open it as I am not a watch expert but I provided clear photos of the front and back of the watch and the info I was able to see.

Let me know if there is anything I can add to help identify this particular vintage Bulova watch.

Welcome to mybulova and thanks for sharing your amazing heirloom with us. That is truly a treasure! I found it in the 1958-1959 Bulova Linebook. It's a

1958 Beau Brummell "J" and yes the diamonds are real.

This is a first for the site and greatly appreciated! I personally collect Beau Brummells and have never seen this variant before.

The prices illustrated are wholesale (dealer cost) and retail in 1958

Thank you for sharing that amazing information. I can't believe someone got back to me already... There's no way I would figured any of that out so I genuinely appreciate all the valuable info.

I had no idea it was such a rare watch and I'm more than happy to share a never before seen variant.. who knew?

Obviously the watch is a treasure and a family heirloom but I have to ask out of curiosity if you have any idea on the current value of the watch?

We aren't qualified to give values, as there are so many variables. Market value depends on current gold prices as well as condition and who is looking at it. I would suggest a professional appraisal for insurance value. I can, however give you this:

Value of $295 from 1958 to 2024

$295 in 1958 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $3,131.14 today, an increase of $2,836.14 over 66 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.64% per year between 1958 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 961.40%.

What a beautiful watch and congrats on having it handed down.   Agree with the 1958 Bulova Beau Brummell "J" assignment.

Love these full diamond dial Beau Brummells. Solid gold case as well. Very nice. 23 movement jewels (all be it synthetic) and 23 dial jewels...64 jewels in total,
