Unusual 30j model with unusual style crystal. Found an original bulova crystal to fit the exact case (2490) as detailed above and photo'd. 10k white rgp. Checked through 1960-1965 ads with no luck.

LOL....out or "out of it"? I do need to move all the non-watch record related database diatribe to a new forum post.
Hey, you're already out of it.
Your Gourd! : )
This watch looks a little "Berkshire revisited" to me.
Waddya think?

That's what I meant! I'll move those comments tonight...it does distract from the thread and is very Berkshire-lke. Sorry
Sorry? What for, just fun bud!
Unknown. What a great looking watch though. It appears that in 1960 it might have been a '30' but by 1965 it might have been a Commander. Question is - what was in in 1963? I really like this watch Gary.
Last Bulova "30" ad from 1964.
If anyone has a Commander, if you check the back it will probably be a screw-in type, and this is push-on.

'BULOVA 30'
The 'COMMANDER' is advertised as 23 Jewels in the early 1960's http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/Bulova_AD_1960_… - it's not 'til 1965 We see it advertised as a 30 J auto.
I looked through arond the ads and didn't see that distinct case/dial. Could be "Commander" or "Bulove 30" in 1961. So like Geoff, I go w/ unknown.
I didn't check on "unique crystal 2490" for possible help.
I'm at a generic Bulova 30 until we see an matching advert. Watch can be updated at any time.
As per the line books Bulova 30 "FW"
