Having a bad night not only did i only break even on a watch..i put together an 8ac and the balance seems to be binding on something,its not the center wheel i checked that,maybe the barrel is binding on the 1st wheel???? When i add force to the stem the balance starts running,in all positions...there seems like there is no endshake or wobble on the center wheel to be stopping the balance..i don't know where to start...pallet fork and escape wheel seems to have no problem ,for i checked that as well..i think the problem really is in the barrel and mainspring,,although the mainspring is good...I am lost here,,before someone leaves advice i am going to check my repair books...Any help or advice would be of great help..i am grateful to anyone who can help.....PS i just finished a 8ae senator no problems keeping perfect time.so i dont' know why this one is messing me up...also the overcoil/hairspring is not touching the center wheel either..i need help

I checked the jewels..some hack dipped the whole movement in somekind of oil or WD40...i cleaned everything very well and used one dip on the balance...but maybe itts still gunked up? i am just going to take it all down and reassemble the movement again...Could over oiling bind up the barrel and center wheel??? i guess will see..thank you gentlemen for help
If you pull the balance and the pallet, does the wheel train roll easily. It should not take much of a puff with your blower to send the train into motion. If the wheel train is free then the problem is not in the barrel.
The hairspring is not binding? The overcoil can touch the bottom of the balance cock and stop vibration. Also hairspring out of round and/or level. Basically anything that could dampen hairspring motion. Maybe even seriously out of beat.

yes i demagetized and yes the gear train is smooth through out and moves freely...i am waiting for a hairsping level and other hairspring tools in the mail...but its werid because like i said with presure on the stem the watch runs fine....so thats why i thought the problem would be in the barrel and centter wheel....i have been busy buying a new PC on sunday and other shopping i didn't have time to work on it but will disassemble and reassemble today...hopefully it is a simple problem,that i just are not seeing...the hairspring did look good...and like i said someone dipped the whole what in oil or WD40 or something so maybe it needs another bath in one dip
I have seen this before in my own repairs. Twice the problem was with the dial side balance jewel. In one case (an Elgin) the hole jewel had moved during pegging allowing the balance to move down and get (barely) dampened by the pallet bridge. The second case, I installed the balance cap jewel (on a Bulova) upside down (just wasn't paying attention). Again, the balance was too low. In this case I think it fouled on the pallet pin.
Two other cases. The hairspring overcoil height was wrong and touched the bottom of the balance bridge when the hairspring breathed. At rest everything cleared. The second case the overcoil position pushed the hairspring down onto the arm of the balance wheel. Just a light touch was enough to stop the hairspring from breathing.
In both these last two cases the balance looked fine when it was out of the movement. With the balance in place it can be difficult to see well.
I doubt oil on the hairspring is your problem if you can see individual coils arrange concentrically around the collet.
thanks to everyone for the help....i will check the jewels although don't have much experince doing that i didn't remove them ever...All the coils on the hairspring are concentric and none are touching when the balance is removed....i will do my best to check the jewel caps and work on the watch.i check the balance with nothing else installed the jewels are ok i think the problem was in the overcoil not staying or to far down in the regulator pins.i push the coil back up and i hope it stays higher in the pins(although i don't really know how to keep up there, i guess moving the stud??)hopefully this works,adjusting the overcoil,like i said i am getting hairspring leveling tools soon,in the mail..i will keep everyone updated......thanks again for the advice...i will keep everyone posted...i really believe that these problems and answers really help everyone...so when the next time someone has this problem they can look here for help...

i got the movement running i bumped up the overcoil higher(which must have moved at some point,cause i didn't think that was the problem... in the regulator pins and also tightened the regulator stud.or maybe i just got lucky somehow..but i rather be lucky then good medicore anyday...... \\now its running with out any problems...i will monitor the watch for awhile and hopefully it doesn't stop...
Thank you Paleotime and everyone else for the troubleshooting help...I couldn't even really find that type of problem in the repair books i have...it is about 12hours later and the watch is still running like a champ...it might be running fast but i have the regulator turned to the F...simple fix...
