Thinking your watch is in fact rose gold as shown in this advert.
Black dial was used in this early Bulova Sea King model.
It sure looks rose gold to me. Definitely a Commodore case. I don't recall seeing a black dial version although it is certainly a variant possibility. Wouldn't the serial number beginning with 4 date this one to 1944?

Beautiful watch. No doubt the case is Commodore and a stand alone design. I have never seen one with a black dial. as Jim said, it may be a variant, or possibly a refinished dial.
