Bulova Clock 1931(?)

Submitted by Time Bandit on

Picked this "Bad Boy" up a while back from a old watchmakers/jewelrs estate who was reportedly a Bulova Employee back in the day. After leaving Bulova, he opened a Jewelry store in Collierville Tn.

Weighs a ton, case is metal, painted to look like wood. The four light blocks surrounding the outer perimeter are actually blocks of wood.

Lookit what I just snagged.

Late 20's Curtis!!  I've been eye'ing one of these for quite awhile.. one came along today and I through what I thought was a lowball snipe at it in the last few seconds and WHAMO!

From the pictures the case looks to be in excellent shape!  Some new cathedral type hands, a nice black strap, and she's a beaut!

I just wanted to express my appreciation to Stephen/Admin for the finest and most comprehensive vintage watch community that there is.

The vast accumulation of data and the format with which it is organized and presented, along with the intelligent, thoughtful interaction of the members is, quite frankly, awesome.

Stephen should be quite proud of what his ideas and labors have provided for anyone with a desire to learn more about Bulova watches.

17 Jewels Written on the Dial

Submitted by NOVA on

On prior ocassions when a watch has presented with "17 Jewels" on the dial, the watch has been dismissed as a Frankenbully.  Here's one example of such a statement posted in a watch thread:

"I've also seen late 1950's early 1960's Water tite with 17 Jewels written on the Dial below the Bulova signature.  IMO these Dials are / were non Bulova replacements."

Bulova Mat Advertising c1955 SCUBA Bob

Submitted by William Smith on

Thanks to brtime (Bruce Shawkey) for making several Bulova Mat Advertising materials available to our Bulova community.  NOVA (Lisa) and I made arrangements with Bruce to have these documents scanned, and we are in the process of determining tentative dates for some of the ads which are not specifically dated.  These ads were a subset of the source materials Mr.

1926 10A Watch Movement Serial Number

Submitted by DreamWeaver on

What can anyone tell me of a watch movement from a June 10, 1924 Patent-dated cut-corner case (probably a Conquerer) that reads, "Bulova Watch Co USA 10A 17 Jewels USA" and Serial Number "185292" ? I see a lot of posts dealing with early serial numbers and I thought someone might know what year the movement might be and whether it is from a Conquerer case or a Lone Eagle case. The case is stamped Serial Number 6417962. Again...there are some members who know more about these numbers then I do.
