Watch Description

Here is a unique one. 1" square with an integrated mesh band. Inside of case back marked "UK" and no s/n. Dial has an almost imperceptible vertical ribbing with 2 diamonds at 12 and one at 3, 6, and 9.

After hours of searching on mybulova and the internet at large, I find only one reference to this watch configuration. A single ad in mybulova full ads from 1979. It ID's as "Geneva Collection, some with diamond accents, some classically simple". The ad shows 3 examples, although not subject watch. The "some" reference would seen to indicate there are more in the collection than what is pictured. Take note that the women's black face with diamonds shows the same dot indices, while white face has batons.

It wears a lot bigger than it is due to the thickness of the band.

A previously unidentified name? I believe Geneva or "Geneva Collection" belongs in the model drop down list.

OK - I'm the guy that is only satisfied by adverts and line books. Here's my case for a "Geneva" ID, it's a stretch. 1979 Line book BAWD0213 has a page shown below. The watch on the right in the advert above is noted as reference 02976 and is highlighted in the snip. Note that the line book clip show a 02976-9W (W for white gold). I think this watch IS a Geneva model, possibly model 02978-5W. PS - the ladies models shown in the advert are in the same Line Book.

Wow, well done, Geoff! I will go along with that. Price point of $225 shows in ad for the Men's model matches linebook for 02976-9Y. I'm going to guess there was also a  02976 - * W  indicating white case with no diamonds, like watch shown in ad. Model 02977-7Y at $325 is likely Men's solid gold. That leaves 02978-5W at $295, a 70 dollar difference for the diamonds on the dial.

Seems the most likely candidate is the 02978-5W. It would make sense that a diamond dial version would cost more that the plain dial version ($225).

So I agree and would be happy to ID as a 1978 Bulova Geneva "02978-5Y".

Now to confirm the ID.
