Watch Description

1972 Clipper "AQ"  Stainless Steel case and back, 23J 11AOACB movement. The band might be original, but I cannot confirm. I think these might have come with a leather band. This was a recent purchase and I haven't had it serviced yet. It looks to be in pretty good condition and seems like it should run, but the rotor doesn't move very freely (like it's all gummed up). There is an inscription on the back that has been crudely scratched across "To Mickey Love Penny Dec 72". I might replace the case back, if I come across a suitable replacement.

Well it sure looks like this love affair ended badly. LOL.   You watch is a classic 1970's big, blue and bold model.   It is a 1972 Bulova Clipper "AQ" as listed in the 1973 LineBook BAWD0180 page 15.

Clipper 'AQ' is a good match. Band may not be original, but is a good match.

I love how someone has tried to 'scratch out' the engraving. Not sure what they expected the end result would be, but I suspect it wasn't this.

One of my 70's favorites, thanks for sharing!. I would leave the back on it, as I am a fan of engraved watches. It's part of the history of the watch,

The Clipper 'AQ' is a 17 jewel watch while this watch is 23 jewels. I've seen other watches that looked otherwise identical but were deemed 'Unknown' when the jewel count differed. Would that not apply here?
