Beautiful time piece but don't really know much about it. Passed down from my father. The hands rotate so smooth. Any advice on caring for this time piece would be wonderful.
Accutron '218'
Thank you for the model info. Would like to learn more from you if and when you have time.
If you can add some pictures similar to other watch records, more will be revealed. Guessing you got the year 1972 from date code N2 on caseback? Welcome Marvin. The folks here are very helpful and this site is a great place to learn more.
I have about 20 218's and they are a trouble free and accurate watch that will provide years of accurate service. They should be cleaned and lubricated once in a while by someone who knows Accutrons. I got my first one in 1974, a used 1970, and I wore it continuously until 1992 when it quit and I couldn't find anyone to repair it. Finally got it fixed in 2007, it needed an index wheel, and it has been running flawlessly since then. Yours was made in the USA.
There's nothing better than an heirloom watch, you are lucky to have it.
Thank you all for the Amazing info..Happy to say that not only am I even more proud of my Accutron but who would have ever thought of the wealth of educational information and pride behind such a time piece...You all are awesome!!..hope to be of some use to a new member or two one of these days soon..
