Watch Description

This watch was my mother's,  she thinks it's from the 1970s. Circular watch face is approx 14mm in diameter. There are 5 diamonds in the design above and below the watch face (10 total). Markings on the face are Bulova at the top, and Swiss at the bottom. Markings on back are 14k, Bulova, NI. 21132.

What year do you think this watch is from? I'm hoping to find the model name or number so I can search for a bracelet strap extender.

Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your mother's watch with us.  If you can take a photo of the case back then we can see the serial number and date code and get an exact year. You can attach it in the comments or email it to admin.  I found your watch in the 1973 linebook so I think you are correct in it being from the 70's and probably early 70's.  I will check the other line books to see the range for this model.  Your watch does have the original mesh bracelet which is very nice to have.

Are the line books you referenced above available to the group? Since my mom's watch is a Princess "H", I'm curious if there are other letters in the collection.

And I have searched all over, I can't find any other images or posting of this design. I'm curious if the "H" is a reference to someone'  name.

I plan to take this to a local jeweler to repair it so the wind up works again. I'm thinking about getting it appraised, but I'm curious if it's worth it since I can't find a visual match online.

No, I'm sorry they are only available to the panel members at the moment.  The "H" is what we call a variant.  The variants are used when a watch name has more than one model in the line with variations.  There is no rhyme or reason to how Bulova named the variants.  Here are the other Diamond Princess in 1971.

Last question :)

What do the 2 different dollar amounts below each watch in the catalog signify?

Left hand is wholesale (dealer cost) and right is retail. A wonderful heirloom indeed. The monetary  value is the gold weight and diamonds, plus the value as a watch; the heirloom value is priceless. If it was my mom's I would have it repaired and cherish it. Thanks for sharing!

As a point of reference, $195 in 1971 had the same buying power as $1,552 in 2025.

A 1971 Bulova Diamond Princess "H" is a great match. Good work Kathy with the ID.
