Watch Description

My father gave me this watch the other day when we found it while going through a drawer of old items. It was a birthday present from my mother to him back in 1972.  There is a personal inscription on the back as shown in the picture.   It isn't in working order, but I hope to get it serviced soon.

Based on the information I found on MyBulova, It appears to be a 1970 Accutron.  The serial number on the back of the case is C81060.  The back also reads 10KT. ROLLED GOLD PLATE BACK and 18KT. HEAVY GOLD ELECTROPLATE BEZEL. In addition, the date code N0 appears below the Bulova brand name.

Great looking watch.  I am not able to find an ad match.  Until we do I would classify this as a 1970 Bulova Accutron.

Noting the calendar function at the 6 o'clock position, would make this a 1972 Bulova Accutron Calendar, with a 218D (or similar) movement.

Model variant pending.

Thank you, Panel Members.  My initial thought was a 1972 Accutron Calendar CN, but the N0 on the back threw me for a loop (indicating a 1970 model per the date code chart).  When I get it serviced, I can ask them to let me get a picture  of the inside of the watch (I don't want to try to remove the back as I am afraid I will damage it).   Perhaps that will yield some useful information.

I just got back from the jewelers.  There was not battery in it the watch when it was opened, and the inside looks relatively clean.  Unfortunately, when they put a battery in the watch did not work.  There was no hum and no movement at all.  I'm hoping they're able to fix it due to the sentimental value.  I uploaded a picture of the movement, so perhaps that will shed some more light on the year.  The person I spoke to stated that sometimes the movement is created a different year from when it is actually put in the case, which could explain the N0 code if it is a 1972 Accutron Calendar CN.

Have found a linebook confirmation for a 1970 Bulova Accutron Calendar "CN" (22304-Y).
