1966 Bulova Accutron Spaceview 214, date code M6, purchased by my great-grandfather. The custom accents on the band was done by a jeweler in his hometown of Osage, Iowa that he had done a good amount of business and become quite good friends with. The watch no longer operates, unfortunately. I had recently had it sent in to Bulova for possible repair, but was informed that they no longer manufacture the parts necessary to make the needed repairs.

I would concur with "H" if the expansion band is original to the watch. However, I'm not certain that it is, and any documentation my great-grandfather may have had to indicate whether it is has more than likely been lost. There also seems to be "Special U.S.A" engraved on the underside of each the band links.
Just providing an update that Henry had sent back my watch on Saturday, the 23rd, and I was finally able to pick it up from the post office this morning. I neglected to ask him to set it for my specific time zone for me, but if anyone would be willing to help me, I would appreciate it. I'm aware that the setting dial is on the back of the case, but I would like some tips on how to set it properly with the watch face toward me and without risk of damaging the watch itself.
As for Henry's quality of service, I cannot recommend him enough if you're looking to get a vintage Accutron repaired.

That is unfortunate, although I'd expect that date-appropriate parts for these timepieces that are in working condition would be somewhat difficult to come by at this point. But I'm just glad he was able to get it humming again. When I get it serviced next, I'll be sure to mention that only date-appropriate parts should be used if necessary and at all possible.

Henry is an amazing resource for Accutron service and repair, I'm glad it worked out so well. The time setting function is really simple AND safe for you to do. There are two openings on the back. The slotted opening is for battery replacement. I recommend not opening it but letting an expert do it. Accutron watches originally came with a small aluminum 'coin' to use (that didn't scratch the back up like a screwdriver would)
The other opening is the time set 'crown' You see a small cut out that your finger nail will catch on. Do NOT use a metal tool (only because you risk scratching the case back), it should lift very easily to the straight up position and look like the handle on a bucket. Turn it gently and the hands will move just like they do using a regular winding crown. The tricky part is holding the watch face up while turning so you can see the time change. It really is totally safe for you do it. Once the time is set correctly, gently move the 'handle' back down flush, being careful not to change the time.
My last bit of advice. ALWAYS do it over a desk or counter so that if you DO drop it, it won't fall far. (yes, I have dropped watches to the floor and done considerable damage, I suppose we all have at some point!)
