1964 American Eagle "F". Style-wise, there is so much going on here it's hard to describe. There are so many complimenting shapes and patterns; where do you start? Tonneau case with cross hatch top and polished sides, to round crystal to shield shaped bezel ring, to a silver face with record grooves and a raised triangular pattern over the top. Gold colored asymmetrical triangular markers. This watch is the perfect representation of style circa 1964.
I haven't opened it up, but have no reason to suspect it is anything but period original. It is mounted on a matching condition period Speidel band that compliments it beautifully. Some slight discoloration of right side of face when held "just right" in bright light. This seems to be quite common for this model for some reason. Only the slightest hint of plating wear on high points of lugs. This was one of the watches on my "bucket list". Happy to have found one in such impeccable condition.
My mistake, I was so excited that I dated this as 1963, It's actually 1964. If one of the panel members would be so kind as to correct in details and additional info, I would appreciate it.
I always liked this one too.

Ouch! That's fantsitic. I love the back engraving. Smitty was a lucky bloke. I wonder what the occassion was for him to get such an amazing watch.
1964 American Eagle F, and a really nice bucket list find.

Well, I'd say he was some kind of a mentor that the "class of 65" thought enough of to take up a collection and gift it to him at graduation time. Based on them referring to him as "Smitty" instead of Mr. Smith, he probably wasn't part of the school experience. Maybe he owned the local Malt Shop where they all hung out, and he didn't kick them out for not buying anything........Maybe he was a classmate who got drafted or enlisted for Vietnam before graduation and it was a "going away present". It's fun to speculate. I love engraved watches. :o)

So thrilled. Just picked one up off of Ebay this week. I can't wait to get it since it is my birthyear.
