Hi there, my grandfather received this watch as a high school graduation gift before joining the Navy. I can see "10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE, BULOVA, L3" and case number "6668342" on the reverse, with "Bulova Selfwinding" on the face. I've looked over examples of models from the 1950s, but haven't been able to find a match to the style.
I think what we have here is a 1953 Bulova Ambassador "H"
.
1953 Bulova Ambassador "H" looks to be a good match assuming 17J movement.
A wonderful keepsake from your grandfather. Have it serviced and wear it proudly! 1953 Bulova Ambassador H
Thanks so much, everyone! If I get brave I'll open it up and confirm the movement.

I think when you see the inside movement knowing it ticked away on your grandfather's wrist, you'll be that much happier.
A wonderful heirloom!
