I think this may be an Ambassador. This belongs to a customer and is not slated for any work, just recording the watch for posterity.

Rob - is it possible this is a 1953 date code? We have this Ambassador E, but is's a '53 model.

It's certainly a match for the 1953 Bulova Ambassador, and the series did continue on in this squared style at least up to 1958. 

At the moment I'm thinking 1958 Bulova Ambassador until we prove that it wasn't available in this configuration at this time.

Any history on the watch Rob?

I have the high res version of the pic and it does look like an 8, but I will see if I can get the watch in hand again to be sure.

It is a good match to the Ambassador "E", and I find this model in ads up through 1956. The pricelists still show this model number into the 60s; but all of the ads post '56 show the automatic versions of Ambassadors. Tentative with 1958 date, but if 1953 is correct then I am good with the "E" variant.

One thing that might also help us determine the age, is that the 10BT movement is only represented in watches up to 1954 in the database, suggesting that the movement in this watch is dated 1953. 

So I'm good with a tentative 1953 Bulova Ambassador "E"
