Overall Length: 31.5mm Case Length: 23mm Width: 20mm Inside Lugs: 16mm Movement Date Code: L1 (1951) Solid 14KYG I checked the ads from 1948-1954 and did not see a model that matched. The glass crystal appears to be original as it is faceted to match the case in both directions. ***UPDATE*** 02-23-2012 - Found RMS 122-72C Bulova "Patriot" crystal info on page 33 of the Rocket #9 crystal catalog. Didn't have the Rocket but did have the G-S equivalent CMX 320-37 and it is a perfect fit.
I actually received another one last week with the same dial as yours on a '48 8AH in an undated case, #9189156. Your movement ring is for that watch. I also have a rose gold version, case #4535936, that I should get before next week.
I found a crystal marked "Patriot" that is a perfect fit and is perfectly faceted to match the case shape. I searched the ad's for "Patriot" (some reason Patriot is listed twice) and came up empty. I also searched Watches for patriot and there is only 1 modern one from 1991 listed. I'm confident enough to change the model to Patriot based on the crystal info alone until such time as evidence arises to contradict. Thoughts?
DarHin,
The '9' Serial number of Your new Case would indicate 1949.
It wouldn't be the first time a Watch has been ID'd using Crystal specs. A 'PATRIOT' ID is worth 2 stars IMO and beats 'UNKNOWN' ...for the time being (?)
In reply to DarHin, The '9' Serial number by FifthAvenueRes…
Especially with the rather unique facets of the crystal.
No doubt, the Crystal Facets match the Bezel 100%.
I have that crystal in Federal glass with the facets , if your interested.
DarHin & Fifth,
I like your Patriots much more than my modern one. After seeing your pictures am tempted to start a new quest. :>} Chasing them down is all the fun!
The reason my Patriot's have were updated was that I had to re-enter the model info as it appears that the duplicate Patriot model has been deleted and mine were entered under that one. No other info has been added or edited.
IMO good two star tentative ID based on crystal specs etc....
