This looks like the Tuxedo model

Thanks to GJ Watches for helping identify this watch.
If the case is 14K Gold then it is a Tuxedo, if it's gold filled then it depends which year it is dated for. It could be an Ambassadorm or an Excellency GG.

Thank You Shawn.
That's one of my favourite lug designs. It really stands out. Great job Mark.
Its not an Ambassador, unless the dial in incorrect.
I say it is indeed an His Excellency "GG"
Stephen,
Yes. The Ambassdor model, although very similar, had the odd numerals omitted from the dial face replaced by raised dot markers. Dial is untouched original.
RGB,
Thank You very much.
Another dead give away that its not an 'Ambassador' is the simple fact that it has 'Excellency' written on the dial.
:-)
Stephen, that too, although I own a 1949 Excellency UU with the exact dial (different color) minus the word Excellency! http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1949-his-excellency-uu-696
From a reliable source: The Excellency GG was not released until 1949. 1948 and prior it was known as The Ambassador.
So, although this Excellency GG is dated 1948 twice yet sports the 1949 dial design (not available in 1948) the only logical assumption to be reached is the movement and case used were leftover inventory. Not an uncommon practice performed by Bulova.
Here's an image of the 1948 Ambassador:

The Excellency XX was also made without the word Excellency on the dial as can be found is some adverts. Whilst going through the adverts I did notice that the Excellency UU did also go by another name at somepoint but damned if I can find it now.
