1940- 48 BULOVA "President." 21Jewels, 10 karat gold filled case. At least Five models were produced in this case style from 1940 through 1948, apparently? Perhaps with a lull in "civilian production," as did Hamilton Watch Company, etc.?? (The "President," plus the following other Presidential models: B, C, D & E.) Best :-) William
William,
With a 'A8' datecode on the Movement one can only assume this Watch is latter day 40's not 1940 as indicated - 1948 perhaps?
agreed. 1948 based on movement and lack of case back info.
Although Scott had posted this, those are obviously Shawn's pictures. He might know better if he's still got it, but as it's a very common model, I'm sure it's at a new home.
So we have a 1948 watch listed in root DB as 1940. One tick from me. While it is a President, it's not a 1940 president. The difference of 8 yrs is substaintial.
The Caseback seriel number would suggest a Manufacture Date of 1949 (highly doubtful it's 1939), being Scott's return to the boards isn't anticipated in the near future could a Moderator 'adjust' the Date?
3 from Me, once the Date is changed accordingly.
3 ticks w/ a 1948 date!
His Excellency EE per this 1947 Ad from Brooklyn, NY... pretty much Bulova's back yard at the time.
