1947 His Excellency "DD" in literally spotless condition on what could possibly be the original leather band. If band isn't factory original, it is proper period and worn a couple times at the most. Caseback has an unusual engraving on it that looks like a snail shell and 2 leaves. Appears this watch was a treasured gift that was kept in a drawer and only admired instead of being worn.
His Excellency "DD" it is
Love the back case engraving on tis watch. Nice match for a 1948 Bulova HIs Excellency 'DD'.
Dating to 1948 based on the first digit in the case serial number.

Point taken on the serial # Stephen. I pondered between 47 and 48 and checked posted watches, finding only one dated as a 1947 that belongs to Geoff. His s/n is higher than this watch so I made the jump it was a 47 based on his being engraved and tagged as a 1947 Christmas gift.
Agree with HE DD
