This is a 10KT Yellow Gold Filled 1946 Bulova "Bottlecap" watch with a brown dial. The dial is severely tropicalized. 31MM X 38MM
This would be a Treasurer model
Treasurer gets my vote. That's a heavy patina all right.

Treasurer in 1946. I believe this yellow gold version to be the 'A' variant, which is similar to the His Exc J or JJ. The HE JJ is listed in the pricelists with a Yellow case and model number 31165; also in the pricelists, the Treasurer A is listed as model number 31165 and same $67.50 price.

Well done Ken. Does the price list reference a "B" or "AA"? If this is the "A", would that indicate the white gold version is either the "AA" or "B"?

Pricelists show:
Model# & Price
31165 $67.50 - Treasurer A & His Exc JJ (the HE-JJ has a case color 'Y' listed in the 1950 pricelist)
31161 $67.50- Treasurer B & His Exc KK (white or rose?)
31163 $67.50- Treasurer C & His Exc LL (white or rose?)

Make sense. It seems that when different color choices are available, the first variant choice in ads is always yellow (biggest seller), second choice is white (less popular) and third less commonly offered is rose. Following this rationale:
A = Yellow
B = White
C = Rose
Agreed?

Bob - I would agree that for some models that could correct. I'm not sure I would make the blanket statement with out a bit more investigation.
In reply to Bob - I would agree that for by Geoff Baker
Agreed Geoff and point well taken. All covering blanket not intended; it's always a watch by watch basis, but in this instance based on available evidence it seems to be the case.
