This watch looks exactly like the Academy Award W watch, however, it is 14k Gold. It is marked on the inside of the watch case. 14k also appears on the outside of the case, however it is worn, as are the serial numerals. I acquired it years ago, inside of an Academy Awards Bulova box. PS I am unsure of the exact year, but it was required for submission. PPS The serial number is worn and it might be inaccurate.

Hi Kathy,
The movement photo already submitted is about as good as I can get with my macro setting. However, if you are interested in seeing what appears to be a rather odd date mark on the movement (not quite a square,it looks like a tooth (!), I am attaching an enlargement of it.

Hi Kathy, again, the photo already submitted of the back case is about as good as I can get with my camera. The numbers are heavily worn down, and there is nothing left to indicate a date/year mark. Here is another attempt at the worn serial number. Thanks in advance.

I guess using the KISS principle, that's probably the best answer. A mariage of case and dial/movement.
Having only one sold gold version being the "Y" and knowing what that looks like in both dial versions, it may just be a simply case of it being non-conforming using the parts as identified by Ken
Both case and movement can be dated to 1946.
