Watch Description

The BULOVA "SURGEON," Circa 1942- 52. 17j Jewels, 10 karat yellow gold filled bezel with a stainless steel case back...  Apparently at least the two dial variants were used, as shown below. Member: "Plainsmen" just scored another Surgeon with a third dial design, that may well also be original?

The light colored dial is the 1942 model, the black  a 1948 release. The 1952 model I have images of looks to be the same design as the '48, w/a black dial also and sporting the same 10BCC movement ... I'm not sure if the '42 vintage shared the same powerplant, as well??? This watch is easily identified by it's "doctor's dial" (with inner circle, seconds register) and sweeping second hand...

BEST :-)  William

You know looking at these again.  The 1940 Surgeon like mine here doesn't show the 3 and 9.  The other ones do, maybe they're later years?

Mine has a variant dial but the hands are similar to the other 1940 above other than the second hand isn't red like that one is.

Plains...possible "Black Hawk" lume redial (not subject watch, but plains watch directly above)?  although I'm still looking for the earlier than 1942 "black hawk" ad below:

Mine is like plains only white dial and steel blue sweep seconds hand. I even have the same hands, but mine is a 10BA and after cleaning and oiling it runs surprisingly well and quite accurately.

I don't know what to call it.

Am I seeing a "48" date code on movement, in bottom right side?
