Plains, would you be open to your watch being re-ID'd as a Chief...kinda fitting I think.

I think it's the Bulova "Chief" like mine here: Bulova 1942 Chief | myBulova.com

The first ad we have on here for the Chief is dated 1941. But I think this one is proof they were made in 1940. 

Thoughts?

I am inclined to ID this as a Chief.  The case and dial matches the subject watch and the ad.  The earliest ad we have for the Chief is March 1941.  It is possible it was one of the early Chiefs manufactured in 1940 for the launch of the model in early 1941.
