Here is another elusive watch. This is a 1936 American Clipper in 10KT white gold filled. It has a 10AE 17J movement with a square date code. The bracelet is also white gold filled. I purchased a lot of 12 watches off of ebay for $20 for this watch and several seiko's. Bonus was a ladies 14kt gold Elgin from the 20s. Lucky me. I serviced the watch and did my best to clean the dial. It is running great. Placing an order for a crystal this week. Here is the ad that states it is available in White Gold. I do not believe I have seen a white gold version yet on this site. Interesting that the pricing is lower for the white gold. Guess white gold was out of fashion by 1936.
This watch in the DB breaks down the variants. I am thinking yours is an "F" based on the thread on that post. A lot of the ads I looked at had these priced at $29.75. I am guessing it might have been a leather band vs bracelet that indicated the price point. Much like the ladies watches with cord bands are less than the bracelet models.

Very cool "obtainable in" white gold! Interesting the ad states "obtainable" instead of "also available in". Makes it sound like there weren't very many available.
My thoughts are Bulova was pretty consistent in variant letter progression. Yellow engraved is "F", so white being the identical model with less desirability was probably "G". Anyone got a price list this old?
However; that said, no ads for "G". Also, the wording of the ad above may indicate it had no variant because there weren't enough produced to warrant it. My gut says it is a different variant yet to be validated. Who knows?
