Thank you for posting this beautiful pocket watch.   1930 looks about right.  I suspect it is a model 470 gold filled engraved dial variant based on this 1924 ad and like this one.  https://mybulova.com/watches/1926-470-9143  The engraving varies and this flower pattern is quite unique from what I have seen before on a mens pocket watch.  Very nice.

I  have to find a replacement stem and crown for it but I love it.  I'm a little ashamed to say I bought a  group of gold filled 12s pocket watches (Elgin 383, Elgin 315, Elgin 303, Illinois 127 (base metal) and a Glamor) just for the Bulova.  As the 1920s-early 1930s Bulova just seems to be the vintage pocket watches I gravitate towards.

I agree.  by 1925 watch models are identified via name.   'CAVALIER' in 1925, hard to say what this watch is named by 1930. ad is 1925

Question from me to the panel. Was it known as the Bulova 470 in 1930?

What indication have you that it should be? I don't see any adverts.

Was Bulova still using the old model reference number in the 1930s? By this period we'd expect it have been assigned a model name instead, but we've yet to find a match for the dial engraving.

If we are happy to carry forward the last known model identifier (470) for a watch then I agree that for now we could ID as a 470 and update when we find the newer model name.
