scarce silvered dial, needs a crystal and correct crown, does show some case wear to back. I discovered when looking for movement symbol==(the triangle being faintly stamped)== the letters CAL(Charles A. Lindbergh) at the apex of the screw hole, very tiny, stamped. Extremely hard to photograph, but a photo is shown here. Has anyone ever seen/noticed this on their early Lone Eagle movement? Could this be a distinguishing identification for the earliest of the watches distributed?
I think is more likely a Conqueror.
The CAL stamp is interesting....LE prototype?
It might stand for CALIBRATION CAL - What is the function of the screw?
Conqueror with a case number 8526120 ??????
What is the case patent date?
In reply to It might stand for by Wayne Hanley
agree here. Could be a typo/blunder in entry? This case SN is a milliion higher than record 3411 (bourg01) watch. Pat date would be nice, as well as a couple more pictures...or as discussed 6's and 8's stamp different than the "noncircular" numbers.
Im guessing sculptor got the actaul watch from spatialistic? Over a year ago? Watch may be gone/resold now etc..., but spatialistic may arcive his photos if it's worth me bugging him.
Screw on the left hold the barrel bridge, screw on the right is the crown winding stem screw.
Wondering if its just an optical illusion.
The serial numbers put it before the original series so I still believe it's a 1926 Conqueror.
Stephen,
Curious, have You ever seen an original Lone Eagle with a Butler finish Dial?
As the Gladiator of this era only came with the 'Silver' Dial maybe this is a feature, or lack of that could help in an initial model identification?
Movement model, case and movement serial numbers would make this a Conqueror.
the CAL still interests me though. The screw to the right is just the setting lever screw and the one with the CAL is one of three barrel bridge screws.
case serial number suggests 1928? It's entered as 1926 LE at topmost title, but 1927 under manufacture date. It came up in a search for 1927, so I'm guessing the search is using the manufacture date field.
agreed, 1928.
Agreed, Case SN gives a 1928 date.
