Watch Description

My Great Aunt's watch. Model 6754, although not written on case. White 18K gold, 6 diamonds, 10 sapphires in outer case. Cabochon also looks like a sapphire. Inside of case, 18MPK stamped at bottom and a curious |X| stamped on the inside of right lip. My aunt's initials are engraved over the entire back.

Movement looks like 6PP, 17 jewel, signed Bulova W. Co. Serial number 9331. Clasp looks original, but only has 18K marking, no brand. Runs but stops.

Dear A5G, congrats with this beautiful watch! Your great aunts watch is indeed the 5754 that had a case made by MP that stands for the company Metaux Precieux, called Metalor nowadays and still making cases for the watch industry. Beautiful!

Can you double check the movement (or post a picture). It should indicate 6PPI and not 6PP as you indicate. Thanks!

You are right, it is 6 PP I. One needs an incredibly strong magnifying glass or a state-of-the-art mobile phone to pick it up.

Also, if you could post a picture of the mysterious "X", the panel could help solve this mystery.

Loaded picture. Looks to me like sort of a case serial number, perhaps it was the 10th of its kind?

Despite the dial difference I agree that your watch is a Bulova 6754. Seeing the movement might help determine the year - 1923 or 1924.

It looks like the mountings for the diamonds and sapphires are separate pieces from the rest of the case. Are those the platinum part and the rest of the case is 18k gold? Just curious.

Based on the color difference, as well as the way the ad is worded, I would say the answer to your question is likely "yes".
