I know Bulova wasn’t the only company to put some variation of Hudson Maxim’s name on a watch so I figured, what the hell, let’s see what the panel has to say. This watch belongs to a friend. He supplied the pictures.
The movement was made by Racine Freres. The only marks on the case appear to say GERBER SWISS.
Initially, I told him it doesn’t have the hallmarks of a Bulova. But I don’t know about the very early days and how Bulova did things. He found some reference in a form saying Bulova used Racine Freres movements in the earliest watches.
If this flat out isn’t an early Bulova in any way, please remove it from the database. It sure would be cool if it was though.

seem Racine already have is own trench watch case from 1918.
The ID of this watch is primarily based on the knowledge that the J.Bulova Company was responsible for marketing and selling Hudson Maxim pocket and wrist watches. The dial, with the combination of a movement manufacture that Bulova used is enough to povide us with an ID.
For these extremely early wrist watches I agree we cannot say for certain what was and wasn't used by Bulova to case their movements, which is why for these early watches I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt rather than dismiss off hand. Had I had done that many years ago and caved to comments made by some members, the Rubaiyat may not have been recognised for its place in the history of the company.
