Thank you! I am trying to get family and friends interested in vintage watches by giving them watches. So far I have three folks who are hooked. The mechanical ones they wear for show. The automatic ones they wear as a timepiece. The tank style watches are the favorite so far. The least favorite watch I have as per family and friends … the Woody.
How can you not like the Woody?
Maybe I need a new family and friends with better taste.

Today I decided to wear something a little different and special, a 1930 Bulova Watertite. I recently restored the inner seals around the crown with 3 rubber o-rings, two in the case tube and one in the crown itself. I sat the watch in a glass of water for a bit and checked the movement.... bone dry. Not sure how it'll go with a swim, but for now I'm happy that it at least has some level of water resistance.
Whilst wearing it to I decided to see if I could find any new adverts online and found this new reference to Daredevil Lockwood wearing the watch during a 10,000 endurance drive challenge in 1930.
It's the fact the Bulova watch mentions keep popping up like this makes them amazing collector pieces.
There's currently only 2 or 3 of these known to exist.

That is a spectacular watch.
I remember watching the Tarzan movies. Then later on I learned Tarzan was the Olympic swimmer, Johnny Weissmuller.
You are as brave as Tarzan to submerse this watch. I think your watch bracelet really adds to the look of the watch.

Question Answered I note that the model shown in the advert is the "hash marks" version, which is slightly different but I think the bracelet you have is appropriate.

This model changed name a few times, Everett, Gedney and then Woodside. All had the model number 38103 and was priced at $69.50 as shown in the ad above.
Your watch dating to 1951 would indeed make it an Everett. (1951-1952)
January 1953 it became the Gedney (different expansion band)
November 1954 it became the Woodside (different expansion band again)
Loving that original expansion bracelet.

I'm English.. so we have a heritage of .. Being 'Dandies'..
The Bulova is 'unknown' at the moment. However the 'My Bulova Panel' are looking at the watch to give it a more pertinent model name
It is quite a struggle to remove and get back in to it when visiting the Rest Room ! LOL!

Wristwatch Wednesday!
Wearing a 1957 Senator H. It has a very interesting “scallop” case that I enjoy. I also like the two different colors on the dial. I think the colors blend well. I like that the colors are subdued. Think it makes the dial look classy/refined.

That's a VERY nice Bulova indeed ! Is it gold plated?it looks it. The dial has an elegance with the two tones i think also.
I have my grandmother's Ingersoll cocktail watch. Hallmarked for London / 1958 and it has similar scallops on the case which is solid 9 Ct gold. My late father was a jeweller and i think he got it for his mother as a present when my parents married in May 1958. Certainly inside it has his shop stock Alpha-numeric mark. I recognise it is in my Dad's handwriting. Every piece of jewellery that went on the shop's inventory was marked with this code.it looks like a watchmaker's 'service' mark. it was a price point indicator as well as a security mark. The shop had a number of burglaries and 2 armed robberies. This marking showed in a court of law that the objects found on the felons came from the shop.. !
Today has been not just a Bulova day. started off with my recent purchase the "1944 10AK" .. then i switched to a 38mm Hybrid movement MWC 'Dirty Dozen ' Field watch and.. now i'm wearing my Omega Seamaster 300m white dial .. It's nice to have multiple choices ! LOL
I do have 2 other Bulovas but both more modern A-17 military field watches. (2021 and 2022)

My first Bulova watch i bought. Iwear this a lot and stuck it on because my team EN-GER-LAND!Won 2-1 against DR Congo tonight! Hurrah!
Now this retails around £300 but i think i paid £199.00
Miyota automatic movement. Hacking function. CSH . Fully lumed arabic numerals and Cathedral Hands.
A real leather strap with exquisite strap hardware. The buckle is stamped "BULOVA". It is not a vintage Bulova but it's one of the favourite watches I own. The rotor spins like silk with little movement. It's got a gunmetal grey PVD finish. The lume is insanely good. It lasts all night. It is a 38mm size with 18mm lug width. The face is a superb flat grey and the printing is.. crisp and precise. I absolutely LOVE the 24 Hour inner numerals in Red. It has a minera high dome crystal which distorts at the edge giving a little interest . This just works for me as a field watch on so many levels !
The only criticism is it has only 30m water resistance- but i have plenty of watches i can use for swimming with and i think the sweep seconds hand could have had a white or red tip to it for greater legibility.
It has all the post WW2 / Korean War 'motifs' in it's design AND quality materials and finishing - Hey it's a BULOVA so expect this!
I had it for a few months before it really put a hook in me and i started wearing it a few times a week at least. It keeps good time maybe +/- 30 secs a day. A lot of people have commented on how good it looks.

Good one!! To me, no other watch company consistently created distinctly unique and original watch designs. Yes, they re-used, renamed. But their watches are consistently eye-catching. Other brands have their hit wonders. Omega has their Speedmasters and seamasters. Rolex has their Daytona and Day-Date (that everybody copied), Breitling their Navitimer. But your Speedmaster is just like everyone else’s. I would rather have something different and unique… enter Bulova. It’s like “Nice Speedmaster” and “Nice Smartwatch” . My Bulova’s receive comments like , “That’s a stunning watch” .

Have to agree with your sentiments. My twin brother has 2 x Rolex but he is scared of wearing them out! They make him too much of a target. I do own an Omega Seamaster as well as 3 Bulovas.
I'd probably pick the Bulova Apollo 15 / David Scott 'Moonwatch' over an Omega Speedmaster for the Apollo connection - just to be different ! and Col David Scott wore his Bulova on the Moon during his EVA 3 Why? Because his officially supplied Omega 'Speedy' had the Hesalite crystal pop off whist he was on the Moon ! also... We English love supporting an 'underdog' of course.
Wristwatch Wednesday ! Wearing a 1972 Beau Brummell “AZ” with original band.
Leave it to Bulova to make a simple watch interesting. The blue dial seems shaded towards the ends giving it depth. There is no sub dial or sweep second hand leaving a very clean looking dial. The three diamonds really stand out on this watch. The irregular “frame” surrounding the round dial really makes this watch interesting. I think if it were just a round dial it wouldn’t look as nice.
