See the little sping/slither of metal that is screwed down at one end and goes to the centre to hold the seconds pinion in place.......whats that called? I need to somehow find a new one for my model as it has broken half way, I just dont quite know where to start. I Know the 12B is a Junghans 89 calibre movement but the actual little metal part, no idea here.

If you can measure the length in mm, I can check to see if I have one. I accually have some of these for rolex watches, and the watch will not care what holds down the seconds bit. I sometimes have to make do with what we got if you know what i mean. I dont cobbel any watches, but this is no more that a tention spring to hold the sweep seconds bit in place and may work just fine.
I think the ones I have or for a 10 to 12 ligne movement and may work well for your project.

Many thanks. I have just measured from centre of screw to the centre of the seconds pinion and it is around 4.6mm in length. I would think that many of these springs are the same. I dont see many watches with them and in essence it is just a slither of metal that is bent to create the pressure isn't it.

Jules Borel has a large parts cross reference database and shows this part unique to the Bulova 12B and the 89.
Part # 93 - The sweeps seconds tension spring is showing out of stock.
Part # 471/176 the sweep seconds friction spring they have
(?)
They may have the part although it's showing as out of stock on their website.

Hey Gary, Sorry but mine are all longer than this one and seem to have a bit differant design and I would not use it, and I looked through my stock and I dont have your part either, so keep on looking. I would say do as the old watchmakers did...make one !! its just a thin sheet of brass (measure thickness) shaped and then bent to provide spring tension...a little tedious im sure but not beyond the skills of someone that can strip these down and reassemble them...use a sharp center punch to create the pocket for the shaft (tap it softly or youll get a hole instead lol). Thickness and bends are likely fairly critical to keep tension where it should be, ie no excess friction yet enough to hold the shaft in place properly. Give it a shot !!!!
