I used Dupont Teflon spray wax, and yes I am extra careful on or around any text/print.   As we know it comes off very easy.  Use with caution especially with the older models.  What i like is that it's a       *white spray .  I put a little in an old crystal and dip the q tip in it.  It seems to help those old while dials a bit.  Big drawback is trying to get the excess white wax from inside and around the raised parts, I sharpen a  toothpick and soften (moisten) it a bit, using as little preasure as possible with both q tip and pic.
