Three 1952 Thayer records in watch database.  All say selfwinding on dial (vs Duo Wind).  Geoff's 1952 example has Thayer hangtag, and a clamshell case saying "self winding".  

Wondering if there was some wiggle room on when Duo Wind ended and Thayer began? 

Also wondering with so many 1953 ads showing selfwinding on the dial of Thayer and earlier Duo Wind ads showing Duo Wind on the dial....

I did find a Thayer ad dated 1952, but its a postcard I think.

EDIT: I just found a 1952 Thayer ad with Duo Wind on the dial from this watch record.... and Plains 1951 Duo Wind watch record w/ selfwinding on the dial.  This shoots down my thinking above.
