Hi Shawn, yes the movement could be original to the case. Don't worry about the hand too much, best leave it as "honest"!
Just the dial that is the main thing, I agree it has been worn with the case wear and all, just not "military issue". Possible PX buy, and new dial fitted at some time? Like you say, we may never know for sure.
