Hi Yellowsub - The little red dots you see in the movement pics are 'jewels' (rubies). They are used to reduce friction at pivot points. The more used, the higher the quality of the item. When I say the count is off I mean that that your watch movement has 21 jewels but the adverts for the Montgomery state that the watch has a 17 jewel movement. When the actual count and the ad differ we suspect that either Bulova made the model with a different movement or somewhere along the last 60 or so years the original movement was replaced with the current one. Either way, it's a wonderful watch!
