Thanks! so it is silver, I've also seen on this site and others, cases that are two piece ones with some other, possibly brass or base metal.
If you think it is not silver still, You state in the above post this document was first printed in Jan. 1945, and this watch dates to 1943, both the case and movement.
Don't forget sterling silver was used extensively in watch case manufacture throughout the war years, as nickel and brass were at a premium.
