Here is a link to MWR forums where I posted the question of a silver-cased A-11. Several members replied they had silver cased models, with silver crowns too-just like mine.

I have seen several siver cased models for sale since my post, so they are not all that rare, below is a pic of one, seller deals mainly in vintage US military watches, and states the case is sterling silver, note the dark silver tarnish at the top of the lugs.
Here is a pic of a silver cased one, note it has been left uncleaned and is totally covered in tarnish.
Just wanted to clear that up with solid proof, as several members thought it was a myth.
