movement date 1946, solid gold case back serial number suggests 1947.  On several, but not all solid gold cases, the serial number is absent. This may be due to sub-contracted solid gold case manufacture for bulova. In some of these sub-contracted solid gold instances, a SN may be present, but uses a different system than "in house" cases manufactured by Bulova.  Subject inside case back is Bulova New York, so for this example case SN to year of manufacture is good. 

related to above but not necessarily subject watch-I believe some solid gold cases manufactured by sub-contractor outside USA don't have Bulova signature.  Also, some solid gold cases manufactured by subcontractor within USA have both case manufacturer signature (e.g. Jonell watch case co- the capital J w/ arrow) and Bulova signature.  Some subcontracted w/i USA only have subcontractor signature w/o Bulova signature.

Do we have a tentative model name for subject watch case shape/design in non-solid gold?  Those hinged lugs should help. I'm looking now.
