You better do some googling,
"Waterproof" or "resistent" case design was started in the early 1920's and in 1926 Rolex Developed and sold the first waterproof case called the "Oyster" (did you ever wonder where the name came from?) and like all watchmakers do, it was copied ASAP, so the technology existed at least 4 years before this ad if not more, and this is not opinion, it is fact.
