Hi Boolamoo! I think replacing the movement with one of a different caliber would greatly depreciate the value of your watch. If it only stops when the 12 position is pointing towards the floor it could be the oscillating weight for the self winding mechanism is lightly touching the balance wheel. There could just be a part worn out in that assembly.
