Base on the fact there is no Bulova signature or date code on the case back, inside or out, I tend to agree that either the back or entire case was replaced.
1954 Non-Conforming by movement date code.
That said,it's a very attractive watch and I love the engraved dedication. It's interesting that the inside case back stamped number starts with "55" followed by a space; and award date is 1955.
