1965 Bulova Senator R case but the dial does not seem to match the line book.  This dial is plain not textured.  Looking for a match to the dial but cannot find one.

This is odd. The only other 1965 model like this on here has the same dial format and a 1967 movement. It's here: Bulova 1965 Senator | myBulova.com

At first I thought it was the same watch, but the serial numbers are different.

I noticed this anomaly as well. Neither watch is a dial match to the linebook and movements for both are 2 years off. I'm inclined to think this is a production glitch. Perhaps the watch was to be released in 1965/1966 with cases produced but was delayed for  some unknown reason - ending up with newer movements and a dial that differed from initial planned production?

The case (and dial shape) are certainly a stand alone style and doesn't appear to have been used for any other model.

THIS ONE  is the only other example in the Db, and is a dial match to linebooks and dated 1966.

I am going to go with Bulova Senator no variant.  I think this is definitely a factory set up but we have no documentation of it.

I think Jim's right, I didn't notice the dial mismatch. No way we can verify why or how that happened. No Variant.
