Hi Bulova fans !
Here is my new bubu, I think it's a 1943 Bulova American Nurse ?
I don't know if it's me but I can see two differents code dates on the movement ( the cresent moon and the X).
I checked the start date and end date for the 7AM :
start date :1937
End date: 1946
Is it possible that the movement was created in 1938 ( cresent moon ) then use for the American nurse in 1943 ( X code ) ?
Other things, looks like it miss the second sweep hand, I don't know if I can put a sweep second hand from another movement like the 6BKC, is it compatible ?
PS: the bracelet is not the original.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Ben

Good evening Geoff, thanks for your comment! I just received this watch and I would like to keep it with me for a moment. Maybe one day, I will decide to return the watch to the Janet's family. But what I can do, it's to share this thread with pics of the watch.
Regards,
Ben

Good afternoon,
My name is Marissa Pacheco, I go by Missy. This is my great-grandmother's watch: Janet Gladys Van Eck. Who was married into the Smarr family from her husband Wyatt Cecil Smarr, who she met while in the Army serving as a Surgeon nurse. She joined the Army because she wanted an education. Her close friends and family would call her Net, and I believe she was called Van in the Army. She had 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. She was the 7th to be born to Janet Klomp and Thomas Van Eck, and was the only woman in her family to serve in the Army. She left with the title of Captain Janet Smarr. She and I were very close, as she helped raised me while my mom worked. I came across this link when I saw her picture pop up when doing some digging on my great-grandfather's side of the family (they have a small part of land named after them in Georgia, which I was planning to visit). I was surprised to see this, as my grandmother never threw away ANYTHING, especially that had any monetary or sentimental value. She had my crib in her back room until I was at least 16.
When I was young, she used to tell me that while she was serving across the pond, there was a lot of bombing, as close as the next tent over. I'm assuming this is how it was probably lost and then found in the aftermath and has been passed along since then. She unfortunately died some years ago, and suffered with Alzheimer's and Dementia.
I understand you wanting to keep this with you, as you've just bought it recently. However, I would like to offer to buy it from you. At least get your money back for what you paid for it, and a little extra for the trouble. I have absolutely nothing with her Van Eck name on it, and would love to have this in her memory. I could provide pictures and such to prove she is my great-grandmother.
I hope to hear from you soon. If you would like contact by email you can reach me at missy20148@gmail.com.

Good afternoon,
It's been a while since I messaged last. Myself and a few others are having trouble getting a hold of you. I wanted to see if you had considered my offer to pay you for the return of my great grandmother's watch? It really would mean a lot to have it back in our family. I can provide proof she's great-grandmother if needed. I was listed as one of her surviving great-grandchildren in her obituary (Marissa Pacheco) you had seen earlier.
Please, please, please respond to one of my messages. I would like to have a piece with her maiden name on it, since I have nothing with the Van Eck name on it, and she was very fond of her memories from the army as a nurse.
Thank you,
Missy

Good afternoon,
I still haven't heard from you about returning my great grandmother's watch to us. I've implored many times I can provide proof that she is my great-grandmother and that I will be willing to purchase it from you plus shipping. You won't be out of any money, and will possibly be able to make some. Please, you must have a heart! Please return the only item that we could have with her maiden name. Please return an army nurse's watch, probably lost to her during her service in Europe, back to her family. The family she fought for. The family she cared for. The family who cared for her. PLEASE CONTACT ME OR ADMINS.
