I think we've seen this called the Spencer as well?

Looks to be a 1944 Bulova Senator.   I believe the Spencer has a difference case according to the ads.

Yeah the Spencer has the tubed lugs.... but I think I recall seeing the ribbed lugs in an ad as well.  That could be in error.

So we do have one as a Spencer in the DB with this case/color https://mybulova.com/watches/1946-spencer-1453, the rest have the other case.  We have two ads as Spencer/Senator with the other case and one with this case that plainsmen linked above and another with it just as a Senator https://mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1946-3b….  My thought would be to move the one from Spencer to Senator for consistency and this one as well.

I'm with Kathy.  This may be an example of date determining name or even possibly a misprint. The single ad Plains linked calling rose gold a Spencer is dated 1947. Ads dated 1946 and earlier refer to rose case as Senator.

That's a great looking watch Scott, I'll always be a fan of rose gold. Nice match on the band (expecting nothing less from you).

I believe this is a Bulova Spencer....why...because of the 14kt Rose Gold case.

The Spencer is advertised with a price of $49.50 were as the lesser gold filled version is $39.75 (Senator). Although Jerin's advert above then throws a spanner in the works by listing both as rolled gold plate.

Adverts also state that the Senator has a silvered dial and not rose...that is what the Spencer has.

i read thru a thread about a similar watch...this one seems to be a real poser! 

something that occurred to me: does the inscription accurately date the watch?

sure it's not later than 1944, but seems to me that watches could certainly sit in the retailers case for some time, especially the higher priced models.
