Watch Description

Greetings everyone!

I am just getting into vintage watches and my first score was this little gem. It appears to be solid 14k gold (maybe rose?). It does work but the movement needs to be cleaned and oiled as it periodically stops. I am hoping to get it serviced and give it to my wife for our anniversary. I've been digging around in the old Bulova ads and dating sources but haven't been able to pinpoint this one so I am turning to the pros. If you need any other photos or have any questions I will be happy to provide whatever I can. Thanks in advance for your time, help and knowledge!

There are 2 diamonds that don't show well in the photos. There are directly above and below the dial in the center.

With the gold case this is more likely a 1946 model rather than the 36.

Thank you for your input! I put 1936 as the date because the square date code (from my reading) was used for 1927 and 1936. I could be completely wrong in my comprehension though :) I also read that the date code for 1946 would have a 46 next to the square on the movement. I have however read that the 6AH movement was used from 1940-1946. This is why I came here though, to hopefully gain some clarity and learn exactly what I have. Thanks again for contributing. It is appreciated!

Quite possibly a match for the Bulova Athena. Matches all the elements listed in the advert. 17 jewels, 14K solid rose gold, two diamonds.

That does appear to be a match. Do you know what year that add is under? Thank you for taking the time to dig through the ads! I'm not sure how I missed it with how many times I've looked over them.

Yes I would agree with Athena.  Here are a couple more ads from 1946.  As someone who loves the 1940 rose gold watches I bet she will love this!!
