Hello,
This is a tricky one. I have found ads for two different names in the same year. Both in the DB and on newspapers. It is either the Beverly or the Colette.
A bit bummed that the case came with a broken lug that I wasn't expecting. I am looking into getting it repaired by a laser welder.
The case is 14K gold filled. The case serial # and the movement date stamp are 1928, as are the ads going up to 1930 or so. Looks like it came with two dial variations. This one and the other that is in the DB under Collette. The movement is a 5AP working 15 jewel movement with a 1928 cresent moon date stamp.
This is a pretty little watch with the black enamel and flower inlay and etched case. It also has a pretty flower crown. The band must be a replacement but also matches really well with matching flower design.
I am leaning toward Beverly only because the other two in the DB have the other dial and are in as Collette but either look to be correct. Look forward to hearing what you think. Thanks.
Indeed I checked the newspapers and Beverly was used until November 1928. The name change thus happened in December. Since your serial number starts with 81, which places the watch around the middle of the year, I would therefore classify it as a Beverly.

Thank you Alex!
If that December name change notion holds true, which makes sense, then this train of thought will certainly help us better ID a watch.
I just picked up this case from the jeweler for the lug repair. I had to get it laser welded and they did a nice job. Happy it is back to wearable condition. Such a pretty happy little piece.
Before and after.

VERY nice - I've not seen this done, I'm impressed.

Thanks. They charged me $45 in case anyone is curious on the cost of this kind of laser repair. Worth it to me to get it back to wearing condition.
Nice!
