The tonneau shaped CASE measures 35mm lug tip to tip and 24mm excluding the crown. The case serial number is stamped to the outside of the case which causes me some concern about its manufacture date. The DIAL is matt silver and is funished with radium stylee numerals and a black printed inner minute track and sub seconds dial almost obliterating the 6.There is no dust shield which suggeststo me that the movement could be towards the end of its run.
The dial on this one appears to have been refinished at some point in time. It has a notch near the winding stem and the seconds circle is not centered over the recess in the dial. So, I wouldn't think the dial details should carry significant weight in identifying this one. Refinished dials are rarely an exact match to the original. The case on this one looks like the American Eagle in this 1934 ad.
But since the ad doesn't give any details on jewel count I'm going to speculate it had a 7 jewel movement because it's priced the same as the Horatio and it had a 7 jewel movement. And as far as I know the Horatio only came in yellow rgp. I think the watch in question could be the American Eagle that's had a movement swap. JMHO.
Yeah, I'm with Ken on it NOT being Envoy, I don't think the case shape is the same. I've stared at the two drawings of the American Eagle and the Horatio long enough (I have them together on page 1) to conclude that other than the bracelet they are identical. Having said that I note that both adverts are non-Bulova ( think Gensler-Lee).
American Eagle is where I'm going.
