Hi guys, I have grabbed an old Accutron snorkel 666 feet (crown at 3 o'clock), in NOS condition (with original blue film); btw I need an information, the watch comes without no letter N (neither inside the movement, neither written on the bottom of the case). There is only a 7 digits code, 5 159 707, so can you advise me about the year of construction? Best regards
Great watch! Any inside pics, case back etc?
Accutron Snorkel. What it says on the tin! :-)
1974 Accutron Snorkel
How can you claim 1974? Why not 1975? It is a simple curiosity...case back says 5 159707...no letter N...further pics coming soon. Messers! Thanx for your help
The caliber is the common 218G, swiss made, without any further code...
We can only go with the info provided. You gave us one pic, and a date of 1974.
I believe it has ben manufactured in 1974, but I am not 100% sure. For that reason I have share with you all the info I have...I'd like to recognize the real year of construction...the alternative is 1975...I have to decode the 7 digits, 5 159 707, so I will be able to discover the correct year of production...
I'm not seeing the choice for a model name (or group/series) Accutron Snorkel. We have "Deep Sea" and some other choices for Accutrons in the model name drop down box (under "search for My Bulova watches" link). I think we discussed using Snorkel as a model name since it was on the dial...but so is 666 feet and other verbage which I think panned out to be a class or series of watches vs a model name.
How about simply making a distinction?
Those with Snorkel on the dial=Accutron "Deep Sea Snorkel"?

I guess we could treat this like we did Accutron "Woody" until we agree on an actual Bulova-advertised model name? The nick-name Woody was entered into the variant field until we determined that Woody was in fact a nick-name.
For subject watch, do we have any indication Bulova produced a model (or series) named Accutron "Deep Sea Snorkel"? It could still "work" even if not advertised as such....perhaps placing the "Snorkel" part in the variant field.
Ok, the correct name is 666 feet, but it is also known as "snorkel" (unformal name) btw there is still a question, how can I decript the six digits code in order to discover the real year of construction?
