Watch Description

Stainless case.  When purchased it had a Speidel stainless strectch band installed.  I looked through the archive ads and couldn't quite find this case/model.  Is this a Sea King, or other model?  I purchased this off the 'Bay, and unfortunately cannot provide any history of the watch.  Unfortunate as well, the watch loses time rapidly, and I've been told there's a problem with the cannon pinion.  I'm looking for a donor movement or to repair.  

EDIT 09.10.2014  Root record changed from 1969 to 1970 based on owner noting date code NO (1970) on case.

I don't believe I've seen a Sea King with this case style in the archives yet.  Makes me wonder...  Hopefully it's not a "Frankenwatch!"

FifthAve, should I look into repairing this movement or replacing, with either the same or, perhaps a mechanical version like the 11ancd (mechanical, date)?   Wow, if that ad doesn't just throw a wrench into everything...?    ;-)    Darn Bulova.  Sooo many variations, and their designation system seems ..... well, .... to leave a lot desired.

Hi Archie, Very nice watch. I'm on the fence for an ID at the moment but your cannon pinion problem could just be a matter of a cleaning and lube. Worst case is a new one.

If it has a Stainless case and Band, wouldn't that put it into the "Sea King" style verses the Dress "Golden Clipper" style? Water resistant, rugged, no rust...The Clipper "Y" states that it is water resistant, but it is a dress watch style, Gold tone case, leather band...

Looks like all of the 1969 watches in the database that have "Sea King printed on the dial are in most "Sea Kings"

Just a note, the Speidel stretch bracelet that was with the watch when I purchased it used off the 'Bay, is not an original band.  Since I've not seen an ad for this watch yet, I've no idea what band came with it originally. 

I added another pic because the first one hid the lugs a bit due to lighting and the matching stainless bracelet.  In the 2nd pic the lugs are seen more clearly.

I see the top picture of the subject watch looks different to the second picture. No lugs. Which is correct?

Same watch, different pics, but the lighting seems to hide the lugs in the first pic so I added the second where the lugs are easier to make out.

Update on this watch.  I'm giving a local watch guy (with good feedback on Yelp, etc) a chance to repair it.  I have my fingers crossed that he can do a good job at a reasonable price, and if so I'll have found someone I can trust with other pieces.  Unfortunately he doesn't touch vintage Accutrons.  I should hopefully have it back next week.

Update:  I have my Sea King back, and it's repaired and overhauled.  Took a little longer than expected, but it's nice to have it back.  My watchmaker also fixed a 67' Bulova with 11alac movement watch I brought along with me.  5 min fix!
